How a parent is linked to their child
A school links you to your child by sending an invitation to your email. You cannot find the school and ask to join, and nobody is linked to a child because they know the child's name.
Who can do it
A parent or guardian the school has invited. Each adult gets their own invitation, to their own email, and has their own account.
What you do
The school sends the invitation
The office sends it from your child's page, to the email you gave them. The email's subject names the school. The child's name is nowhere in it: if the address had been typed wrong, a stranger would learn it.
You open the link
It works for 7 days, once. It opens a NepiNest page that names the school and the address the invitation was sent to.
With no account, you make one there
You enter your full name and choose a password: at least 8 characters, with capital and small letters and a number. The account is made already linked to your child.
With an account, you sign in
If that email already has a NepiNest account, the page asks for its password ("Sign in and accept"). If you have forgotten it, use "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page, then open the invitation again.
You sign in to the website
At nepinest.com, press Log in and sign in as a parent with that email and password. Your child is on Today.
What you should see
The invitation page says "All set!". Once you have signed in, Today shows your child's name, and reports appear there as the school sends them.
If something went wrong
- The page says "This link does not work"
- The link was already used, the 7 days have passed, or the school sent a newer invitation, which cancels the earlier one. Ask the school to send it again, and open the newest email.
- No email arrived
- Look in spam for an email from NepiNest. If there is none, ask the school which address it typed: the office sees every invitation nobody has answered, and can cancel it and send one to the right address.
- You signed in and it says "No child linked yet"
- The invitation went to a different address from your account's, or has not been sent yet. The page names your account's address: give that one to the school.
- The invitation page says "That password is not right"
- The address already has an account, and the page wants that account's password, not a new one. Set a new one with "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page.
- The other parent does not see the child
- Each parent needs an invitation of their own. Ask the school to send one to their email too.
- An invitation came that you were not expecting
- Close it. Nothing changes unless someone opens the link and completes the page.
