Notifications: what arrives and where
Everything the school tells you is in the website's Notifications. A phone with the app gets the same as notifications, and a few things also come by email.
Who can do it
Every parent, for their own account. The switches are yours: the school does not see them or set them.
What arrives where
On the website: Notifications
A new report, an announcement, a document, a change to the calendar, a message, a payment and an incident each leave a line there. "Mark all read" marks them all, and a line can be deleted.
On a phone with the app
The same arrive as notifications. A report's notification carries the child's first name and nothing from the report, because it shows on a locked screen too.
The four switches
In Profile, under Notifications: Daily report, New message, Announcements, documents and calendar, Payments and open months. They are for the phone only. On the website everything appears.
What no switch stops
If something happens to your child, you are always notified.
By email
By email come the school's invitation, the confirmation of a new account, a password reset and a change of your sign-in address. So does a payment that was recorded, and a payment reminder if your school has turned reminders on. Reports and announcements are not emailed.
What you should see
Notifications shows how many you have not read, and each line says what it is about.
If something went wrong
- Nothing reaches the phone
- Check the switch for that kind in Profile, and that the phone allows notifications for NepiNest in its own settings. Sign in to the app with the same account you use on the website.
- The phone stayed silent, but the website has it
- That is how it works when a switch is off: the website's list is always complete.
- An email did not come
- Look in spam. For a payment email, the school sees when your address did not take it, and the notice is in Notifications all the same.
- No notification came for the report
- The notification goes out when the report is sent, not while it is a draft. If Today shows no report, the school has not sent it yet.
- You want fewer notifications
- Turn a switch off. Notifications about an incident cannot be turned off.
