Announcements

Whatever the school has to tell every family, written once. It reaches each parent, in their language when it was written in both, and the school sees who has seen it, or who has confirmed when it asked.

The pictures are screens from the demo, a school of made-up children and parents, as the school's portal and the website show them today, on a computer and on a phone. The announcements the demo school has sent are in Greek only, so the English screens show them in Greek.

Writes once, for the whole school

A title and text in Greek, in English or in both. Each parent reads it in their own language; written in one, everyone reads it in that one.
With “Ask parents to confirm”, parents tap “I've seen it” and the office counts who confirmed. Without it, it counts who opened it. The choice is made before it is sent.
If wanted: an event date, such as the day of the trip, shown on the announcement; pinning, so parents see it first; or sending it later, on the day and at the time set.
Under each announcement: how many families have seen or confirmed it. One tap shows which have not yet, first, and which have, with the child's class, the parent and the time.
A change to the text shows as “Edited”. If the announcement asked for confirmation, families are notified and confirm again, and it shows who had confirmed the earlier text. Otherwise no new notice is sent.
Posting, every change to the text and deleting stay in the activity log.

Knows who in their classes has not seen it

They see every announcement of the school, and for each one which families in their classes have seen or confirmed it: before the trip, they know whom to remind at pickup.
If the office allows it in Settings, they write announcements too and manage their own. Pinning stays with the office.

Finds it all in one place

Under “Announcements”: pinned ones first, then today's, yesterday's, this week's and earlier ones, with the day of the event where there is one. Above them, the coming days of the school calendar and the school's documents.
When the school asks for confirmation, the announcement says so and has an “I've seen it” button. On “Today”, a banner shows the announcement waiting for confirmation first, otherwise the pinned one.
The notice of each new announcement is under Notifications. Whoever has the app gets it on their phone too, with the title and the text.
If the text changes after they confirmed: “Changed since you confirmed · please confirm again”.

What it does not do

So you know what to expect before you start.

It goes to the whole school: An announcement reaches every family. For one class, or the parents of particular children, “Broadcast” sends a notice, which does not stay among the announcements and does not ask for confirmation.
It sends no email: Parents learn of the announcement under Notifications on the website, or on their phone if they have the app.
Confirmation is decided before it is sent: Once parents have the announcement, confirmation cannot be asked for or removed: whoever opened it has already been counted as having seen it.
It does not translate: The school writes each language itself; nothing is translated automatically.
Parents do not reply to an announcement: There is no conversation under an announcement. Parents write in the class chat or talk to the school as always.
