Features · The day in class

Attendance

The day's register: one tap at the door when a child arrives, and one when they leave. The office knows at any moment which children are in the building, and a parent sees when their own child arrived and left.

The pictures are screens from the demo, a school of made-up children and parents, as the school's portal and the website show them today, on a computer and on a phone.

Teacher · in the portal, on a computer, tablet or phone

One tap at the door

  • The children of their classes in four groups: expected, in class, left, absent. “Arrived” records the arrival time and “Left” the departure, at the moment of the tap.
  • A double tap does not change the first time. A tap that was missed or wrong is fixed later, with the time it really was, or undone.
  • When a parent has said their child is staying home, the child is already among the absent, with the parent's words. If they come after all, “Arrived anyway” moves them in.
  • On a computer, a few letters in the search and Enter mark the arrival, once only one child matches.
  • Several people on the same register, the door's tablet and the teachers' phones: each screen sees the others' taps within half a minute.

Office · in the portal

Knows who is in the building

  • “Headcount” opens, for an evacuation or a drill, full screen, every child who arrived and has not left, by class. Each child is ticked when found, until it reads “All accounted for”. It counts the whole school whatever class is selected, from what the page already holds, without waiting for the network.
  • Any day's register prints on A4 with a column for a signature, or downloads as a file for Excel.
  • If the school wants, the office sets a time in Settings. On days the school is open, once that time has passed, each class's teachers get one notice about the children who have not arrived and whose absence nobody reported, and the portal's home page shows them.
  • Every corrected time is in the activity log. When a child is handed over in Pickup, their departure is recorded in the register too.

Parent · on the website

Sees when their child arrived and left

  • On “Today”: “Arrived 08:10 · at school”, and later the time they left, in Greek time wherever the parent is.
  • One tap shows every day of the month: when they arrived, when they left, and the days they were away, by the parent's own notice or a sent report marked absent. A teacher's draft does not count.
  • From “Tell the school” they say their child won't be in, today or the next school day, and the register shows it among the absent.
  • If the school keeps no register in NepiNest, the card simply does not appear.

What changes, and for whom

For the parent

They know without asking

That their child arrived, and when they left, today and every day of the month.

For the teacher

One tap, and it can be fixed

The door does not wait: one tap per child, and whatever slips is fixed later.

For the office

A headcount in seconds

In an evacuation, the list of everyone inside is ready, by class, and counted down to the last child.

For everyone

A child missing without a reason shows early

A child who has not come, and about whom nobody said anything, shows in the morning, while a phone call still helps.

What it does not do

So you know what to expect before you start.

It does not notify the parent at each arrival
The parent sees the times on the website when they open it. Nor is the parent of a child who has not come told automatically: a person decides that.
It marks nothing by itself
There are no cards, QR codes or location tracking. Arrivals and departures are marked by a person at the school.
It records times, not who collected the child
Who may collect a child, and who is coming, is in Pickup.
The "not here yet" notice is off until it is set
It starts only once the office sets a time in Settings, and it tells only the staff. The demo does not send it.

Try it

The demo opens on attendance, in the browser: the teacher and the office in the portal, the parent on the website. It is a school of made-up children, yours alone, which deletes itself.
