Features · The day in class

Pickup

The parent says how many minutes away they are. Whoever is at the door sees who is coming, who may collect the child, and whether the office has something to check, before handing the child over.

The pictures are screens from the demo, a school of made-up children and parents, as the school's portal and the website show them today, on a computer and on a phone.

At the door · in the portal, on a computer, tablet or phone

Knows who is coming, and who may collect

  • Two groups: first whoever is already at the door, then whoever is on the way, with the child's class and how many minutes are left until the parent arrives, counted from when they said. A new “On my way” appears within 15 seconds, without refreshing the page.
  • For each child: who sent “On my way”, and a warning if the child's contacts show that person without permission to collect. Below, everyone who has it, with their relationship, a phone number to call with one tap and whatever the office wrote, such as “must show ID”.
  • If the office holds a safeguarding note for the child, a warning asks for it to be checked before the handover. The door sees that it exists, not what it says: the text stays on the child's page, for those allowed to read it.
  • “Arrived” moves the parent to the door. “Handed over” ends the pickup, records the departure in the attendance register and stays in the activity log. A departure marked in the register ends it too.
  • A teacher sees only the children of their own classes.

Office · in the portal

Nobody is left waiting at the door

  • On the portal's home page, a parent at the door comes first in the list of what needs doing, with a “Hand over” button. Parents on the way are counted, with the minutes until the first one arrives.
  • The office sees the whole school's pickups.
  • On each child's page it sets which contacts may collect them, with whatever the door needs to know. Every change stays in the activity log.
  • In Settings it can set pickup hours: then the parents' home screen asks whether they are coming. The school does not need to keep an attendance register.

Parent · on the website

Says they are coming, with one tap

  • If the school has pickup hours, from half an hour before them until they end, “Today” asks whether they are coming to pick up their child: now, or in 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes. At other times, or with no hours set, it is under “Tell the school”, “Coming to pick up”.
  • Once sent: “The school has been notified”, with the minutes they chose. If plans change, one tap takes it back.
  • It is not offered on a day an absence was reported or the school is closed.
  • Under “Safety & health” they see the contacts the school holds and which may collect. Changes are made by the school.

What changes, and for whom

For the parent

One tap before setting off

No phone call at the hour every parent is calling.

For the door

Everything on one screen

Who is coming and who may collect, with their phone numbers, without searching a folder.

For the office

Permission is set once

It is set on the child's page, and every change to it shows in the activity log.

For everyone

Handover and register agree

The handover is the departure: the headcount never counts a child who has already gone home.

What it does not do

So you know what to expect before you start.

It does not send the staff a notice
“On my way” shows in the portal, while it is open. Nor is the parent notified at the moment of the handover.
It does not know where the parent is
The minutes are the ones the parent chose. There is no location tracking.
It does not check identity
There are no codes or ID scans. Whoever comes is checked by a person, against the list of who may collect.
It warns only about a sender it recognises
The sender is recognised among the contacts when a contact is linked to their account or has the same email. If they are not recognised, no warning shows, and the list still applies.

The demo opens on pickup, in the browser: the teacher and the office in the portal, the parent on the website. It is a school of made-up children, yours alone, which deletes itself.
